OSFA Affiliation

Military Open Source Software (Mil-OSS) was officially formed in 2008, about the same time Open Source for America (OSFA) was forming independently. OSFA decided to organize into working groups, the founders of Mil-OSS felt that a partnership between independent working groups under the larger umbrella of OSFA would be the most productive way ahead. In late 2009 Mil-OSS officially teamed up with OSFA as its Military Working Group

The relationship has proven very beneficial to both organizations. OSFA provides a greater awareness and outreach across the federal government, while Mil-OSS provides the defense-industry an Open Source rally point. The two organizations work closely together and several members of the Mil-OSS Steering Committee also serve on various committees and in leadership roles for OSFA
